Overview

• Officers responded at 5:49 a.m. to the 1800 block of Burshire Court for reports of gunfire and found a 40-year-old man unresponsive in the yard with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
• Police discovered a 40-year-old woman shot to death inside the home and recovered a handgun at the scene.
• The Kendall County Coroner identified the man as Ryan Heit and the woman as Jennifer Heit.
• Four children ages 3 to 16 were found unharmed and were later released to the care of a family member after initial protective custody.
• Joliet police are canvassing the area and ask anyone with information to contact the Investigation Division at 815-724-3020.
