- Kothagudem One-Town police, working with special party units and Maharashtra police, arrested two CPI (Maoist) cadres during vehicle checks at the Kothagudem bus stand on Monday.
- The detainees were identified as area committee member Oyam Bhoodu, also known as Lokesh or Madhan, and his wife and party member Podium Raame, also known as Shilpa.
- According to police, Bhoodu has been with the outfit since 2009, became an area committee member in 2014, and faces about 90 cases in Maharashtra.
- Police say Raame joined the group in 2018, was active in the South Gadchiroli division, married Bhoodu in March 2024, and is accused in 67 cases.
- Officials attributed the arrests to strengthened surveillance and combing operations across Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra, and urged underground cadres to surrender under the state rehabilitation policy.
