Overview

  • A joint team from the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, Jammu & Kashmir Police, CRPF and SOG launched a search operation in the Akhal forest on Friday evening and neutralized one militant
  • Intermittent and intense firefights persisted through the night, including about 20 minutes of heavy firing around 4 a.m., before operations resumed under cover of darkness
  • Forces believe two to three militants, possibly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, remain trapped in the encircled area and have strengthened the cordon with additional personnel
  • Mobile phones and LoRa sets seized during Operation Mahadev have yielded photos of Pakistani NADRA cards and local Aadhar records
  • Authorities aim to use intelligence from these devices to dismantle Pakistan-backed terror cells and secure further arrests
