Overview
- A coordinated operation by Maharashtra ANTF, Bengaluru City Police and the NCB on December 24–25 led to four arrests linked to alleged mephedrone manufacture and trafficking.
- Investigators seized 4.2 kg of finished substance from a house in Yerappanahalli and about 17 kg of liquid precursor materials, along with mixers, barrels and other equipment.
- Bengaluru Police said preliminary tests showed a general positive for amphetamine on the finished material, while specific tests for methamphetamine and MDMA were negative, and no functional lab was found at the sites.
- Maharashtra ANTF maintains it dismantled three factories and values the haul at Rs 55.88 crore, whereas Karnataka officials cite a smaller seizure valued around Rs 1.2 crore and dispute the number of locations.
- The probe traces back to a December 21 Vashi arrest with 1.48 kg of MD, the accused were produced before a Devanahalli court on December 26, and further arrests and forensic confirmations are pending.
