Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link Reaches 65% Completion
Service expected to start by end of 2026, with fares to be determined commercially by operator.
- The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, a project to improve connectivity between Singapore and Johor Bahru, has reached 65% completion on both sides.
- The RTS Link is expected to start passenger service by the end of 2026 and aims to ease traffic congestion on the Causeway by ferrying up to 10,000 passengers an hour each way on a journey that takes about five minutes.
- Fares for the RTS Link will be determined commercially by the operating company, RTS Operations, taking into account factors such as demand for services, cost of providing efficient and reliable service, and fares charged by alternative travel options.
- Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim marked the completion of the connecting span of the RTS Link, symbolising a shared commitment to the rail project.
- The RTS shuttle service will run between the Singapore terminus at Woodlands North station and the Malaysia terminus at Bukit Chagar station in Johor Bahru, with passengers only needing to clear immigration authorities once at their point of departure.
