John Stamos Joins The Beach Boys at Riot Fest, Ending a Decade-Long Pursuit

The appearance fulfilled a playful list of conditions during the festival’s 20th anniversary.

Overview

  • Stamos took the Riot Stage on Saturday with Mike Love’s Beach Boys, starting on guitar before moving to the drum kit for parts of the set.
  • He addressed the crowd in a special Riot Fest shirt and helped deliver staples such as “Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Good Vibrations,” and “Kokomo.”
  • The cameo concluded a campaign that began in 2013 with Stamos-themed stunts, including a life-size statue recreated by food sculptor Jim Victor on display at the grounds.
  • Organizers met several of his tongue-in-cheek demands: founder Mike Petryshyn got a butter-themed Stamos tattoo, Giordano’s rolled out the Stamos Supreme pizza, and a look-alike contest was held.
  • The set arrived during Riot Fest’s 20th year, which featured more than 80 acts and introduced the Riotland attraction.
