- B.C.’s anti-gang unit confirmed Potvin was taken into custody in Spain on Sept. 19 and says it is working to have him returned to Canada.
- Potvin, 49, is charged with conspiracy to commit prison breach and prison breach for allegedly helping Rabih (Robby) Alkhalil escape custody.
- He was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant and an Interpol Red Notice after charges were announced on Sept. 8.
- Two other accused in the case, Ryan Van Gool and Edward Ayoub, are already in custody, with Van Gool arrested last month and Ayoub jailed on a separate matter.
- Investigators say surveillance of two men dressed as contractors who fled in a white Econoline van helped identify suspects, while Alkhalil’s status remains unconfirmed despite media reports he was detained in Qatar.
