John Gibbons, former manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, has been named the new bench coach for the New York Mets.
Carlos Mendoza, the new manager for the Mets, has announced his coaching staff which includes Jeremy Hefner returning for his fifth season as pitching coach.
Eric Chavez, who was the bench coach last season, will return as hitting coach, the same role he had in 2022.
Other new hires include Antoan Richardson as first base coach, Mike Sarbaugh as third base coach, and José Rosado as bullpen coach.
The hiring of the new coaching staff is the first major move by the Mets' new president of baseball operations, David Stearns.
