John Cena to Star in Mattel's Live-Action Matchbox Movie

Apple Original Films secures the film package with Skydance and Mattel Films, directed by Sam Hargrave.

John Cena has been cast in the lead role for the live-action adaptation of Mattel's Matchbox toy car line.
The film will be directed by Sam Hargrave, known for the Extraction movies, with a screenplay by David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper.
Matchbox, created in 1953 by Jack Odell, became an iconic brand after its small toy cars gained popularity among children.
The project is a collaboration between Skydance, Mattel Films, and Apple Original Films, continuing their successful partnership.
Cena, currently filming Peacemaker Season 2, will also retire from wrestling in 2025 after a farewell WWE tour.
