Filming of the commercial was delayed due to Los Angeles wildfires but resumed with Christopher learning he had landed the role on New Year's Eve.
Christopher shared that his late father, John Candy, would have been proud of his involvement in the project, despite likely preferring Tim Hortons over Dunkin'.
A documentary on John Candy's life, produced by Ryan Reynolds and Colin Hanks with the Candy family's participation, is currently in development.
