• Prosecutors allege Belfield orchestrated the July 2022 ambush of Thomas Campbell out of jealousy over the victim’s relationship with his ex-girlfriend.
• Belfield admitted planning to steal Campbell’s drugs but denied any intention to use violence or to rob him.
• He testified he only learned of a tracking device on Campbell’s vehicle when co-defendant Stephen Cleworth revealed it.
• Campbell’s ex-wife Coleen Campbell was jailed for manslaughter and conspiracy to rob after providing details of his movements; co-defendants Reece Steven and Stephen Cleworth received life and 12-year terms respectively.
• After the killing, Belfield fled to South America, was arrested in Suriname in early 2025 and extradited back to the UK to stand trial.
