Overview

  • Adams conducts the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería at Sala Nezahualcóyotl on August 23 and 24 in what organizers describe as his first Mexico appearance.
  • The program pairs his 1994 Violin Concerto with Sibelius’s Lemminkäinen’s Return and Stravinsky’s The Firebird.
  • Violinist Augustin Hadelich is the featured soloist for the concerto.
  • Ahead of the concerts, Adams gave a masterclass at UNAM’s Facultad de Música in a public session hosted by composer Gabriela Ortiz.
  • He highlighted that his stage works often engage history and politics yet reiterated his view that art’s core is reflection and expression; he also noted El Niño’s Spanish and Latin American texts and that its Mexico premiere remains pending.
