Overview
- Newcastle United issued an official statement on Thursday confirming Joe White has completed a permanent transfer to League Two side Crewe Alexandra.
- Local reports say White has signed a two-year contract and is expected to join Crewe's pre-season squad for their friendly against Stoke City.
- White came through Newcastle's academy after joining in 2016 and spent a string of loan spells at Hartlepool, Exeter, MK Dons, Crewe, Leyton Orient and Bradford to gain senior experience.
- He made his Newcastle first-team debut in a 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth and made four substitute appearances under Eddie Howe during the 2023/24 season but did not establish himself at St James' Park.
- Reports disagree on how many games he played during his earlier Crewe loan (sources list 20 or 25 appearances), and the permanent move is aimed at giving him steady senior minutes at a club that finished 11th in League Two last season.
