Overview

  • Caroff died on August 17 in a Manhattan hospice one day before his 104th birthday according to his sons, Peter and Michael
  • He devised the 007 gun logo in 1963 by adding a barrel and trigger to the number seven for a $300 commission
  • Despite its global reach on films and merchandise, he received no on-screen credit, royalties, or residuals for the Bond design
  • Over a career spanning more than 300 campaigns, he crafted posters and title sequences for films such as West Side Story, A Hard Day’s Night, Last Tango in Paris, and A Bridge Too Far
