JNJ Publishes 12 Applicants for New ONPE Head Selection

The agency will verify documentation to determine who advances to four eliminatory tests that require a 70/100 pass score in each stage.

Overview

  • The Junta Nacional de Justicia published the list of 12 registered applicants on Friday, starting a renewed public contest to name the head of the Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales.
  • The 12 registered postulantes are Víctor Omar Álvarez Herrera, Ernesto Antonio Aranda Vergara, Jorge Félix Balarezo Rengifo, Augusto Ernesto Bernuy Alva, Teresa Giovanna Durand Silva, David César Espinoza Acosta, Marco Aurelio Espinoza Rivera, Carlos Martín Eulalio Loyola Escajadillo, José Alfredo Pérez Duharte, Luigino Pilotto Carreño, Sarita Piscoya Morales, and Manuel Isidro Vásquez Flores.
  • Before candidates can continue the JNJ will check their paperwork and publish the list of postulantes aptos on September 28, after which four eliminatory evaluations will take place.
  • The contest uses four eliminatory stages with set weightings—knowledge 25%, curriculum 20%, case/plan 20%, interview 35%—and each stage must be passed with at least 70 out of 100 points to advance.
  • The post has been vacant since Piero Corvetto resigned in April after problems with delayed polling-station openings and Bernardo Pachas is serving as interim head while the JNJ completes the selection, which will determine who leads ONPE going forward.
