JNE Sets June 16 Deadline for ERM 2026 Candidate Registrations

Political groups must file lists at JEE offices or through the Declara+ system, which triggers a JEE review that allows two calendar days to correct formal defects.

Overview

  • The Jurado Nacional de Elecciones reminded parties that the deadline to request registration of candidate lists for the Regional and Municipal Elections 2026 is June 16.
  • Organizations may submit registration requests in person at Jurados Electorales Especiales or electronically via the JNE’s Declara+ platform, which issues a time‑stamped receipt to prove filing.
  • JEE panels will screen filings for legal requirements such as internal democracy, gender parity and alternation, electoral quotas, candidate Hoja de Vida forms, and required supporting documents.
  • If a JEE finds a formal defect, the political organization has two calendar days to correct it and failures that cannot be remedied will be declared inadmissible, which bars those candidates from the ERM 2026 process.
  • Local JEE units are running practical trainings to lower filing errors and help legal representatives complete documents and use Declara+, a step that could reduce the number of inadmissible requests and last‑minute disputes.
