Overview
- The first of two sessions begins at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, in the Biblioteca Nacional’s Mario Vargas Llosa auditorium and will feature 13 candidates on stage.
- The debate follows a strict four‑block format: 1.5 minutes for opening and closing statements, three minutes for direct duplas/ternas exchanges, and about one minute for answers to citizen questions and the 'Sin rodeos' yes/no segment.
- Journalists Omar Mariluz and Alicia Retto will moderate the sessions and the JNE will stream the debates on its channels, including live video on YouTube.
- Parties without registered mayoral nominees will send substitutes: Renovación Popular and Perú Libre will be represented by their lieutenant‑mayor candidates in the second session on September 22.
- The JNE collected roughly 4,921 citizen questions through its 'Pregúntale a tu candidat@' initiative to boost voter information and standardize candidate exposure ahead of the October 4 municipal vote.
