JMA Warns of Heavy Rain and Severe Storms From Northern to Western Japan Through Monday Morning

Warm, moist inflow along a stalled front under a deepening Hokkaido low is fueling the short-term threat.

  • For northern Kyushu’s Yamaguchi, Fukuoka and Nagasaki, the agency flagged a morning risk of linear rainbands, with peak hourly rain projected at 70 millimeters in Yamaguchi and 60 millimeters in Fukuoka and Nagasaki.
  • The frontal zone is expected to linger into the night, keeping conditions volatile across broad areas from northern to western Japan.
