Overview

  • Spanning 26 hectares, the Gaydon installation is the first of three UK solar projects and is designed to supply up to 31% of the site’s energy.
  • A newly expanded rooftop array at Wolverhampton is due this autumn with over 18,000 panels and 10.7MW capacity, producing about 9,512 MWh a year to meet nearly 40% of the site’s needs.
  • More than 10MW of solar carports are scheduled for installation at Merseyside in 2026, set to be the UK’s largest and to provide EV charging and sheltered parking.
  • JLR’s China joint venture added 20MW of rooftop solar in May 2025 and has generated over half of the facility’s monthly power, improving workshop temperatures and cutting costs.
  • JLR frames on‑site generation as a buffer against volatile energy markets; Gaydon is targeting a 52% biodiversity net gain and the company reports a 23.4% cut in operational emissions versus FY19/20.
