Overview

  • The OMR-based test on August 24 was called off after being shifted from 11 am to noon, with the board saying it ran at 34 of 35 centres but could not be conducted at one.
  • JKSSB said the examination will be held afresh and that dates will be notified, while secretary Atul Kumar indicated rescheduling next month.
  • Viral videos from Srinagar’s Kothi Bagh Higher Secondary School showed groups working on the paper outside, and candidates alleged the set appeared on Telegram and WhatsApp before the start.
  • The JKSSB secretary denied any leak, alleging some aspirants snatched question papers and OMR sheets at the Srinagar centre; he said CCTV footage will be used to identify them for legal action.
  • Opposition figures from the PDP, Peoples Conference and NC condemned the episode, invoking earlier ED and CBI probes into JKSSB exam irregularities in 2020 and 2022.
