J&K’s 3rd National Lok Adalat Settles 2.39 Lakh Cases as Andhra Districts Log 6,852 Resolutions

Officials highlighted quick conciliatory settlements with immediate compensation, with the next Lok Adalat scheduled for December 13.

Overview

  • Across Jammu & Kashmir, 306,851 matters were taken up and 239,533 were settled by 167 benches, involving Rs. 50,50,78,932 in agreed payouts.
  • The J&K drive was organized by the Legal Services Authority under Chief Justice Arun Palli’s patronage and Justice Sanjeev Kumar’s leadership, with the inauguration at Kupwara.
  • Multiple case categories were resolved, including motor accident claims, matrimonial disputes, cheque bounce cases, money recovery, commercial matters and compoundable criminal offences.
  • Several MACT compensation cheques were handed to beneficiaries on the spot, providing immediate relief to eligible claimants.
  • In Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram region, officials reported 6,852 settlements across district and sub-courts, including a Rs. 37.50 lakh cheque to a motor accident victim.
