J&KPunjab Drone Drug Module Busted as Kathua Police Arrest Five

Investigators are tracing Pakistan links plus hawala routes after a Hiranagar drone drop triggered the case.

Overview

  • An intelligence-led joint action by J&K Police and the BSF in Hiranagar on 29 July recovered a drone-dropped packet near the International Border.
  • Officers seized about 447 grams of opium and 411 grams of heroin in the main case, with additional heroin and cash recovered from a local trafficker and a Tarn Taran-based financier.
  • Those held include couriers Sukhwinder Singh and Arshdeep Singh, receiver Feroz Din of Rajbagh in Kathua, plus an alleged financier from Tarn Taran who was in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers.
  • FIR 107/25 has been registered at PS Hiranagar under NDPS provisions and Section 13 of the UAPA, with police alleging proceeds were sent to Pakistan via hawala channels.
  • Investigators say the network has already moved more than 30 kg of drone-dropped heroin, while a separate Nagri-Kathua case produced five additional arrests and a 20-gram heroin recovery, with more action expected.
