J&K–Ladakh High Court Orders Tiered Donations for Flood Relief
Collected funds will be pooled into a single cheque for the J&K relief fund.
Overview
- The directive, issued on Chief Justice Arun Palli’s instructions through Registrar Vigilance Rajeev Gupta, covers judges, officers and staff across both Jammu and Srinagar wings and the district judiciary in J&K and Ladakh.
- High Court judges will contribute Rs 20,000 each, district judges Rs 10,000, senior civil judges Rs 7,000, junior civil judges Rs 5,000, gazetted officers Rs 5,000, non‑gazetted staff Rs 1,000, and registrar judicials of both wings Rs 1,000 each.
- Members of the High Court Bar Association in Jammu and Srinagar and district Bar associations across J&K and Ladakh are asked to donate voluntarily.
- The Registrar General will consolidate all deposits and remit the total to the Government of J&K through a single cheque.
- The move responds to cloudbursts, landslides and flash floods since mid‑August that have killed more than 130 people and injured over 120, with record rainfall on August 26–27 worsening the damage.
