J&K Targets Narco Finances With House, Car Attachments as Arrests and Seizures Mount

Overview

• Police in Poonch seized a residential house valued at about Rs 60 lakh under SAFEMA from Sajjad Hussain Shah, described as a habitual offender now lodged in Udhampur jail under PIT-NDPS.
• Udhampur Police attached a Toyota Innova worth roughly Rs 22 lakh under the NDPS Act after investigators said it was bought with proceeds of narcotics trade linked to Mohd. Yousaf Joo.
• Three alleged peddlers were arrested in Jammu division, with heroin recoveries reported in Miran Sahib and Ware House areas of Jammu and an additional arrest in Kathua.
• A follow-up operation in Jammu recovered 278 grams of heroin from a scrap shop based on a disclosure by accused Karan Sharma after an earlier 3.260 kg seizure.
• Reasi police seized 100 Tramadol capsules, 74 Alprazolam and 14 Petril tablets along with over Rs 2 lakh suspected to be drug-sale proceeds, while Poonch police reported freezing multiple bank accounts and Udhampur tallied Rs 12 crore in attachments this year.
