Overview

• Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level review and directed departments to fast-track damage assessments and submit consolidated projections to New Delhi without delay.
• Officials reported 150 deaths, 178 injuries and 33 missing in the Jammu division, with Kishtwar worst hit and more than 4,200 homes fully and 8,600 partially damaged in Udhampur and Jammu districts.
• Interim assistance has topped Rs 40 crore from the SDRF along with Rs 3.35 crore from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
• Connectivity has been largely restored with over 2,700 km of roads and more than half of 330 damaged bridges reopened, permanent road and bridge works are costed at nearly Rs 893 crore, and almost all of about 49,000 affected transformers are back online.
• More than 2,000 water supply schemes were damaged with roughly 1,600 temporarily restored and about Rs 195 crore needed for permanent repairs, while over 8,800 schools were audited for safety and 758 were declared unsafe.
