J&K Police Leaders Reinforce Security for Budha Amarnath Yatra

Senior officials have outlined convoy-only movement, CCTV surveillance and real-time coordination to safeguard pilgrims and uphold communal harmony

  • DGP Nalin Prabhat on July 22 chaired a high-level joint review in Poonch with Special DGP Javaid Gillani and other senior officers to finalize security plans for the July 28–August 9 pilgrimage.
  • DIG Sarah Rezvi led an initial coordination meeting in Sunderbani on July 21, stressing foolproof measures, seamless traffic management, medical readiness, sanitation and basic facilities for yatris.
  • Authorities mandated that pilgrims travel in armed convoys only and ordered deployment of additional security personnel along the entire route and at identified vulnerable points.
  • The review called for installation of CCTV cameras, establishment of control rooms and round-the-clock monitoring with real-time communication among police, army and paramilitary units.
  • Officials described the 13-day journey as a symbol of communal harmony and appealed for public cooperation to ensure the yatra proceeds smoothly and safely.
