J&K Police Attach Properties of Pakistan-Based Suspects in Poonch and Kathua

Police say the court-ordered attachments are intended to cut off resources to cross-border networks under anti-terror laws.

Overview

  • In Mandi tehsil, Poonch, police attached 6 kanal 13.5 marla of land linked to Jamal Lone, assessed at about Rs 13.36 lakh.
  • The Mandi action followed a court order in FIR 07/2002 under the E&IMCO Act after Lone was declared a proclaimed offender who exfiltrated to Pakistan/PoJK.
  • A day earlier in Mendhar, police attached four marlas and two sarsai of agricultural land of alleged handler Rafiq Nai under a UAPA case registered at Gursai, valued around Rs 10 lakh.
  • Kathua police, acting on Special Court directions under BNSS, UAPA and EIMCO provisions, attached over 10 kanals 15 marlas owned by seven residents residing in Pakistan, valued at several crores.
  • Officials said the actions were executed with revenue authorities after legal verification, and they alleged Nai has overseen smuggling and aided attacks in the Poonch–Rajouri belt.
