Overview

• Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over a Shopian ceremony where 1,481 women, including 125 recent trainees, graduated from vocational and life-skills courses at Army Goodwill Schools and six Livelihood Enhancement Centres.
• Sinha emphasized that empowering women is pivotal for overcoming terrorism, drug addiction and other social challenges in Jammu and Kashmir.
• The National Rural Livelihood Mission, Umeed and Tejaswini schemes have delivered skill-based training, financial aid and mentorship enabling women to launch businesses.
• Self Help Groups have transformed thousands of women from job seekers into job providers across sectors like horticulture, tailoring and food processing.
• Good governance, strengthened security and increased public participation have helped double Jammu and Kashmir’s economy over the last five years.
