J&K Home Department Relocates Top Police Officials as Sunil Gupta Exits IGP Crime Role

Overview

  • Dr. Sunil Gupta, IPS (2007), was relieved from his duties as IGP Crime J&K under a Ministry of Home Affairs directive effective July 28.
  • A total of two IPS officers and nine JKPS officers were reshuffled to fill unit vacancies and uphold leadership accountability.
  • Vinod Kumar, IPS (2011), moved from DIG Armed Jammu to DIG IRP Jammu, and Sameer Sharma, IPS (2011), was posted as DIG Armed Jammu.
  • Senior JKPS officers Kulbir Singh, Randeep Kumar, Arun Gupta, Liaqat Ali and Jameel Ahmad were reassigned to roles at the Commando Training Centre, PTWS units and IR-13 command.
  • JKPS mid-rank officers Mohd. Rafi Giri, Sunil Kumar Kesar, Zahid Aziz Samoon and Devinder Singh Bandral took on positions within SDRF command and various IR battalions.
