Jivan Dean, 24, attacked Raven Riley, 21, with hot sodium hydroxide at Tipi Valley, Carmarthenshire.
Dean was motivated by jealousy, mistakenly believing Riley had interacted with his girlfriend.
The attack caused Riley to suffer severe chemical burns and permanent blindness.
Dean pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and other charges, showing no remorse.
Judge Geraint Walters described the attack as a deliberate act of unimaginable cruelty.
