Overview
- Police say Lucas Portela Fontana Gomes attacked at least two female neighbors in a Tijuca condominium during the night of November 5, with one assault captured inside an elevator that lasted about three minutes.
- The elevator footage shows the attacker striking the victim repeatedly, including punches, kicks and a chokehold known as a mata-leão, leaving the woman bloodied and injured and another elderly victim hospitalized.
- When officers intervened, the suspect resisted, tried to grab a police weapon, was shot in the legs by PM officers and was later subdued with a stun device before being taken for medical care.
- After an initial filing at the Central de Flagrantes classified the case as lower potential and the suspect was released following hospital treatment, the 18ª DP obtained CCTV images and medical laudos and requested a judicial arrest, which was granted on November 6.
- Authorities have charged him with attempted feminicide plus threats, home invasion and bodily injury, and investigators are probing motive and possible substance use after the suspect said he does not remember the events.
