JioCinema Introduces Low-Cost Premium Plans to Challenge Netflix and Amazon in India

The Indian streaming service JioCinema has launched new monthly subscriptions starting at just Rs. 29, aiming to dominate the streaming market with affordable, high-quality options.

JioCinema Premium now offers monthly plans at Rs. 29 for single screen and Rs. 89 for four screens, with ad-free 4K streaming and content downloads.
The service continues to provide free streaming of sports, including the IPL, despite the premium upgrade.
Previously available annual plans have been replaced by more flexible monthly subscriptions, reflecting a strategic shift in pricing.
JioCinema's aggressive pricing undercuts major competitors like Netflix and Amazon Prime, whose plans start at higher prices in India.
The introduction of these plans follows a merger between Viacom18 and Disney's local unit, aiming to capture a significant share of India's streaming audience.
