Jim Leonhard Joins Denver Broncos as Defensive Backs Coach

Former Wisconsin defensive coordinator and interim head coach, Jim Leonhard, secures his first NFL coaching position with the Denver Broncos.

Jim Leonhard, previously with the University of Wisconsin and the University of Illinois, has been hired as the defensive backs coach for the Denver Broncos.
Leonhard turned down an offer for the Green Bay Packers' defensive coordinator position in 2021 and interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles in February 2023.
He played in the NFL for 10 seasons, including a stint with the Broncos in 2012, before moving into coaching.
Leonhard's coaching career includes seven years at Wisconsin, where he served as defensive backs coach, defensive coordinator, and interim head coach.
The move to the Broncos marks Leonhard's return to the NFL, this time in a coaching capacity, after a successful tenure in college football.
