Jim Lee, former Chief of IRS-Criminal Investigation, has been appointed as the Global Head of Capacity Building at Chainalysis.
Lee's career at IRS-CI spanned nearly three decades, during which he led significant operations against financial crimes, including the takedown of darknet marketplaces and the largest-ever crypto seizure connected to terrorism financing.
Chainalysis, valued at $8.6 billion, is known for its pioneering work in tracing crypto transactions and identifying illicit activities involving digital assets.
Lee aims to leverage his extensive experience in law enforcement to help Chainalysis enhance its capacity to fight financial crimes in the crypto ecosystem.
During his tenure at IRS-CI, Lee worked on notable cases such as the shutdown of Hydra Market and the takedown of Welcome to Video, a dark web child pornography site, demonstrating the increasing use of cryptocurrency in criminal activities.
