Jharkhand PSC Postpones Mains After CID Raids and Five Arrests

Forensic analysis of seized computers and OMR records will determine whether digital tampering or procedural lapses affected the preliminary exam.

Overview

  • A CID and Ranchi Police operation led to raids at the JPSC office and the exam vendor’s premises and agents seized computers, hard drives, OMR scanning records, mobile phones and paper files for forensic examination.
  • Investigators arrested five people, including JPSC Deputy Controller Shweta Kumari Gupta and TSR Data Processing director Ramveer Singh, who were remanded to judicial custody after an FIR was registered under state criminal and exam-specific laws.
  • The JPSC formally postponed the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Main Examination and deferred nine other scheduled tests until further orders, a decision that the commission announced on July 22.
  • Candidates have complained that the April 19 preliminary results lacked published cut-off marks, showed unsigned merit lists and did not provide access to OMR sheets, while the vendor named to process exam data had earlier been flagged by another state commission.
  • Thousands of BJP and BJYM protesters have demonstrated in Ranchi demanding a CBI probe, protesters clashed with police, and the political dispute could prolong delays for thousands of aspirants awaiting the recruitment process.
