Overview
- The Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department said it arrested two men, identified as Somansh Prakash and Rahul Kumar, on Thursday in connection with alleged irregularities in the JSSC graduate-level competitive exam held in September 2024.
- Both men are natives of Bihar who were living in Burari, Delhi, and the CID says they were associated with the conduct of the JSSC-CGL examination.
- The arrests add to earlier detentions of a key accused, former block supply officer Abhay Tiwari, and his wife and brother, who were taken into custody in late July and mid-August respectively.
- Authorities have expanded the probe beyond the single exam and will investigate all tests run by the TDPL institution since 2014 while a retired judge will head a separate, independent inquiry into the irregularities.
- The ongoing SIT-led criminal investigation could affect the jobs and exam outcomes of candidates who sat the JSSC-CGL and may prompt wider reviews of test security and vendor oversight across Jharkhand recruitment exams.
