JFK Terminal 6 to Feature Site-Specific Works by MoMA, The Met, AMNH and Lincoln Center

Installations will debut with the first phase of Terminal 6 in 2026, highlighting the Port Authority’s effort to infuse its JFK Vision Plan with museum-caliber art.

Overview

  • The Port Authority and JFK Millennium Partners have enlisted four leading New York cultural institutions to install major site-specific works in the $4.2 billion Terminal 6.
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art will showcase images spanning 5,000 years of art while MoMA’s commission will feature a Yoko Ono–inspired installation based on her "PEACE is POWER" work.
  • Lincoln Center plans a 140-foot mural depicting its campuses’ performing arts heritage and the American Museum of Natural History will display iconic specimens such as the Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton and a Rapa Nui figure.
  • The cultural program also incorporates 19 permanent installations curated by the Public Art Fund alongside rotating exhibitions by Queens artists selected by the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning.
  • Terminal 6 is a privately financed component of the Port Authority’s $19 billion JFK Vision Plan and is slated for a phased opening in 2026 with full completion by 2028, while drawing scrutiny over opaque art-selection governance and undisclosed compensation details.
