The match was confirmed after Jey Uso declared his WrestleMania opponent following a post-Royal Rumble confrontation on Monday Night Raw.

Jey Uso earned a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 41 by winning the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble on February 1.
On the February 10 episode of Monday Night Raw, Uso made his WrestleMania challenge official by calling out reigning World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
Gunther ambushed Uso during his Raw entrance, delivering a brutal attack that included multiple powerbombs and slams onto the announcer's table.
This will be a rematch of their January 25 encounter at Saturday Night's Main Event, where Gunther retained his title against Uso.
WrestleMania 41 is set to take place on April 19-20 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with this being the first officially announced match of the event.
