Overview

  • Wan admitted swapping a genuine $225,000 platinum-mounted diamond ring for a cubic zirconia replica at Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue flagship in March 2024
  • Just days later he used distraction techniques to pocket a $24,000 engagement ring at the Cartier boutique in Hudson Yards
  • Investigators tied him to a 2018 $330,000 diamond theft in Seoul and similar heists in New Jersey, California and Florida under an active Interpol warrant
  • The NYPD, Nassau County Police and U.S. Marshals arrested Wan at his Flushing home in May 2024 and recovered multiple stolen items including a $17,000 Chopard watch
  • Manhattan prosecutors charged him with second-degree grand larceny and credited the cross-jurisdictional probe for dismantling his global theft operation
