Overview
- Former Browns lineman Perrion Winfrey has been signed to the Jets’ practice squad. He was released by Cleveland in July amid assault allegations and other legal issues.
- Winfrey was accused of assaulting a woman outside a hotel, allegedly showing her and a friend a handgun and taking their phones. He remained uncharged after the victim opted not to pursue legal action.
- Previously Winfrey was arrested following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend in April. The charges were dropped after his completion of a pretrial diversion program.
- In another incident, Winfrey and Browns defensive back Greg Newsome II were robbed at gunpoint outside a Cleveland nightclub. Newsome’s truck was also stolen in the incident.
- During his time with the Browns, Winfrey appeared in 13 games, recording 22 combined tackles and two quarterback hits, but missed one game due to a disciplinary suspension.
