Overview
- Head coach Scott Arniel said Monday that Dylan Samberg broke his wrist and will miss six to eight weeks after a second-period hit by Calgary’s Ryan Lomberg that he called a “freak accident.”
- Samberg’s absence opens a left-side slot next to Neal Pionk, giving Kale Clague, Haydn Fleury, Ville Heinola and Logan Stanley an immediate audition for larger minutes.
- Winnipeg made further camp reductions: Isaac Poulter, Fabian Wagner and Jacob Julien were assigned to the Manitoba Moose, Dylan Anhorn was released, Phil Di Giuseppe and Mason Shaw were placed on waivers, and Danny Zhilkin was loaned to the Moose.
- Connor Hellebuyck left practice early after not feeling right, and Arniel said it is uncertain whether he will play Tuesday’s preseason game in St. Paul.
- The roster count moved from 45 after Sunday’s cuts to 43 with the waiver placements and to 42 following Zhilkin’s loan, as the Moose opened AHL camp and the Jets near their Oct. 9 season opener.
