Overview

  • Phillips took part in his first Jets practice on Monday after the deal became official last week, saying the move began as “initial shock” but now feels like “a great opportunity” with “the arrow … pointing up.”
  • The Jets acquired Phillips and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Vikings for sixth-rounders in 2026 and 2027, with Minnesota covering $3.7 million of his $7.4 million 2025 salary.
  • New York projects Phillips as a veteran run-stopper next to Pro Bowler Quinnen Williams, and also added Jowon Briggs while dealing Derrick Nnadi back to the Chiefs.
  • Head coach Aaron Glenn praised Phillips as a cultural and on-field fit, and Williams said he was “super excited” to line up with him.
  • Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell called the decision difficult and framed it within Minnesota’s interior-line reinforcements and emerging depth after adding veterans Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave.
