Jets Expand Coaching Search with Interviews of Arthur Smith and Bobby Slowik

The New York Jets continue their extensive head coach search, speaking with Steelers OC Arthur Smith and Texans OC Bobby Slowik as they evaluate a wide pool of candidates.

Arthur Smith, currently the Steelers' offensive coordinator, interviewed for the Jets' head coach vacancy on Thursday, marking his second time being considered by the team after interviewing in 2021.
Smith, previously head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, had a mixed tenure there with three consecutive 7-10 seasons before being hired by Pittsburgh, where he improved the offense this season with Russell Wilson at quarterback.
Bobby Slowik, the Texans' offensive coordinator, also interviewed virtually with the Jets on Thursday as he prepares for Houston's playoff game against the Chiefs this weekend.
Slowik, once a sought-after candidate, has seen his stock dip slightly after the Texans' offense regressed in his second year, though he remains a notable name in coaching circles due to his work with quarterback C.J. Stroud in 2023.
The Jets have now interviewed 12 candidates for their head coach position, including prominent names like Ron Rivera, Rex Ryan, and Mike Vrabel, the latter of whom was recently hired by the Patriots.
