Jets head coach Robert Saleh is under fire after a text exchange with radio host Joe Benigno was made public, in which Saleh allegedly expressed dissatisfaction with quarterback Zach Wilson.
Benigno, who had previously called for Wilson's benching, suggested to Saleh via text that Wilson should be reinstated as the starter, to which Saleh reportedly responded, 'Are you kidding me?'
Benigno interpreted Saleh's response as a dislike for Wilson, but later admitted he misinterpreted the text and that Saleh was actually questioning Benigno's flip-flopping stance on Wilson.
Former Jets quarterback and current WFAN host Boomer Esiason criticized Benigno for making the private text exchange public and questioned Saleh's judgment for engaging in such a conversation.
Despite the controversy, Benigno expects to continue communicating with Saleh, while Esiason suggested that Saleh's job could be in jeopardy due to the incident.
