Jets Begin Coaching Search with Ron Rivera and Rex Ryan as Initial Candidates

The New York Jets are set to interview former head coaches Ron Rivera and Rex Ryan as they look to fill their vacant head coaching position after a disappointing season.

Ron Rivera, a two-time NFL Coach of the Year, is scheduled to interview with the Jets this week for their head coaching vacancy.
Rex Ryan, who led the Jets to back-to-back AFC Championship games in 2009 and 2010, has expressed confidence that he will also be interviewed for the role.
The Jets are seeking experienced candidates to replace Robert Saleh, who was fired midseason after a 2-3 start, with interim coach Jeff Ulbrich finishing 2-9 so far.
Rivera brings 13 years of head coaching experience, including a Super Bowl appearance with the Carolina Panthers in 2015, but faced challenges with the Washington Commanders, where he was fired after a 4-13 season in 2023.
The Jets are also conducting interviews for their general manager position, with former executives Thomas Dimitroff, Jon Robinson, and Louis Riddick among the candidates being considered.
