Jet2 to Open London Gatwick Base With 29 Leisure Routes From March 2026

Newly released runway capacity at Gatwick enables the expansion.

Overview

  • The first flight is scheduled for March 26, 2026 to Tenerife, with initial services covering popular holiday markets in Spain, Greece, Turkey, Portugal and Italy.
  • Jet2 has secured slots for six aircraft, basing five Airbus A321neos at Gatwick and positioning one additional aircraft overseas.
  • Gatwick becomes Jet2’s 14th UK base, with more than 300 direct jobs planned across flight deck, cabin crew, engineering and ground operations.
  • Airport and industry statements attribute the available slots to approval for routine use of the northern runway and adjustments to runway capacity limits.
  • The move heightens competition with easyJet, British Airways and Tui at Gatwick, while Jet2 projects the operation will not reach profitability until the 2029 financial year.
