Jet2 to Open London Gatwick Base in March 2026, First Flight to Tenerife

The carrier targets South East demand with a Gatwick base aligned to the airport’s expanded capacity.

Overview

  • Jet2 will base six aircraft at Gatwick, including five new Airbus A321neo jets promoted for lower fuel burn and noise.
  • The initial programme spans 29 leisure routes across Spain, the Canary and Balearic Islands, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria and Cyprus.
  • The company says the move creates more than 300 direct jobs across pilots, cabin crew, engineering and ground operations, with additional indirect roles expected.
  • Gatwick’s chief executive welcomed the entry and linked it to recent government approval for routine use of the Northern Runway, which increases scope for growth.
  • Gatwick becomes Jet2’s 14th UK base after the airline secured slots for six aircraft, expanding options for holidaymakers across the South East.
