Jet2 Launches Inquiry After Mum and Kids Stranded 15 Hours at Palma Airport

Jet2 has launched an inquiry into how the family was refused boarding despite the flight remaining on the tarmac.

Overview

  • Megan Patrick and her two young children were stranded for nearly 15 hours at Palma Airport after airline staff refused to board them on their delayed Jet2 flight to Newcastle.
  • They arrived at Gate A20 within minutes of its status changing to “boarding,” yet staff scanned their passes then barred them from the aircraft while it sat idle on the tarmac for another half hour.
  • Patrick incurred £390 in added fees by rebooking on a 9:35 pm replacement flight, which itself departed hours late after an eight-and-a-half-hour wait.
  • Jet2.com and Jet2holidays confirm all other passengers boarded as scheduled and have launched an inquiry that will include direct discussions with Megan Patrick.
  • Patrick says the ordeal has traumatised her and shaken her confidence in travelling alone with her children in the future.
