Jessica Pegula, the No. 2 seed, rallied past fellow American Bernarda Pera 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to reach the Adelaide International quarterfinals.
Pegula saved 10 of 13 break points and broke Pera's serve five times in the final two sets.
Pegula will next face Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, a three-set winner against Czech Katerina Siniakova.
Top seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan defeated Spain's Cristina Bucsa 6-3, 7-5 and No. 6 Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia outlasted France's Caroline Garcia 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
At the Hobart International, No. 1 seed Elise Mertens of Belgium breezed to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Slovakia's Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova.
