Overview
- Jensen International Automotive publicly revealed the Interceptor GTX on Friday as a one-off, hand-built track prototype the company calls an “enhanced prototype.”
- JIA says the GTX is powered by a heavily modified, supercharged 6.8-litre GM-based V8 with a current claimed output of about 973hp and further headroom the company says can be developed for higher power.
- The car uses a bonded and riveted aluminium monocoque, double-wishbone suspension with adjustable Nitron dampers, AP Racing brakes and motorsport hardware in a stripped track interior with an FIA cage.
- JIA and Wallpaper* cite a large adjustable rear wing that the company reports adds roughly 350kg of rear downforce but that aerodynamic figure and some power claims come from single-source reporting and are not independently verified.
- The GTX was commissioned by Jeff Qvale, cost about £1.2m to develop, and JIA says future plans for a four-door GT and a two-door GTR will depend on customer demand, funding and the prototype’s reception.
